Activities that stress early reading and math skills are included in the class. Monthly field trips are also taken by the students to help prepare them for learning outside the classroom. Parents are welcome to join us on our field trips. The classroom is structured to meet the individual needs of each age group. The room is furnished with low shelving so that the children can choose their own activities. Age-appropriate activities are encouraged. The children learn at their own pace, at their own level, without competition. While exploring various activities in the classroom, the children learn by discovery. Activities are structured to have a built-in control of error so that the children may do self-correction. The directress (teacher) of each class directs the children so that they may best benefit from the environment. Academic, social, emotional, and physical needs are of utmost importance to the staff at Children's House. |
