Without the experienced observation of Susan Halkin, Directress of Children's House Montessori and Pre-School, I would have never known that my son needed the help he did for Central Auditory Processing and Attention Deficit Disorder. Susan put me in touch with Child Find/The Tiny Tim Center in Longmont, CO. There, my son received the occupational and behavioral therapy he needed to develop the tools he needed to cope with being "main-streamed" into his public elementary school environment. It is my opinion that Ms. Halkin wants the best for any child who comes to her school, even it that means she has to refer the child for help she cannot give to the child. My son is a college graduate now, and thanks to Ms. Halkin's early intervention, he is doing quite well in this "normal world", even with the hidden disability of Adult A.D.D. I am grateful to Ms. Halkin for her experience and compassion with children.
We feel so fortunate to have found the Children's House. We have four children ages 9, 7, 5, and 3 and have had a child at Children's House continuously since 2002. We have always been impressed with the quality of care and education. Each teacher at the school brings something unique to their learning experience. They are able to recognize each child's strengths and weaknesses and cater learning to their needs. We love that they also have a field trip each month so that they have an opportunity to experience learning outside of the classroom. Our children have been exceptionally prepared for elementary school socially and academically. The teachers all care about our kids and our family and it has been a wonderful preschool experience!!

We cannot know the consequences of suppressing a child's spontaneity when he is just beginning to be active. We may even suffocate life itself. That humanity which is revealed in all its intellectual splendor during the sweet and tender age of childhood should be respected with a kind of religious veneration. It is like the sun which appears at dawn or a flower just beginning to bloom. Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child to open up himself to life.
